Join us for a special Thursday evening event, combining a one-hour communal sauna session with a guided cacao ritual with Launette — blending deep relaxation with heart-opening, nourishing connection.
Launette has been working with cacao for over 15 years, and brings guests together after their sauna session for a guided cacao ceremony — learning about the drink’s history and properties, how it’s enhanced with herbs, spices and functional mushrooms, all while enjoying a cup of delicious cacao, served in hand-crafted local ceramics.
It’s a chance to slow down, reflect, and let the conversation flow before you head back out into the world.

SAMPHIRE SAUNA HASTINGSOn All Saints Night, we gather at the water’s edge to make space for grief.
Not only the grief of death, but every form of loss we carry — the ending of a relationship, a home left behind, a future imagined differently, a version of ourselves we’ve outgrown, or grief for the earth itself. All grief is welcome here.
Held by the elemental presence of the sea, we will move gently between ceremony, sauna, herbs, guided meditation and a sacred cacao ritual — meeting what we carry, rather than rushing to move beyond it.
There will be no expectation to share, no right way to grieve, and no need to explain your loss. Come exactly as you are.
As the veil is traditionally said to be thin at this time of year, we will honour those we have loved and lost, and the parts of ourselves that have changed along the way. Let the sea hold what has been too heavy to carry alone. Let the sauna warm what has grown cold. Let the cacao remind you that even within grief, the heart is still capable of love.
There will be a simple altar where you’re invited to place a photograph, object, flower or natural offering, in memory of someone or something you carry with you.
A sacred evening of grief, remembrance, ritual, water and warmth, held gently at Samphire Sauna by Katie Rose Whiting, death and pregnancy loss doula, and Laura of Cacao de Mer.

A colour full and immersive workshop at Downtown Colorville
Join us, on the cusp of rare blue moon in may for a multi-sensory feast. We will diving into the world of colour; through cake paint, sound and cacao ceremony in our playful paint playshop on the Queens Road.
We invite you to a tart making workshop by Poppy at Sable Tart making glazes over ice cream like cakes. These cake colours have been chosen specially to evoke the blues and greens of the seaside town of Hastings under this rare blue moon. Think blueberry flavored colours, with lilac purples and roasted black sesames. Eat patisserie, drink ambient tea and immerse yourself in synaesthetic soundtrack flavour and pure unadulterated joy.
Rothko-Inspired Painting Workshop
Led by Gemma Lloyd
Play with colour, texture and emotion by gently painting onto hand stretched muslin canvases with specially mixed by Simon. Inspired by Rothko, this workshop invites you to let go of the outside world stresses and enjoy the childlike sensory calm of marking tactile brushes to canvas in a shared dreamlike and suspended state.
Ritual Cacao Experience
With Cacao de Mer
Launette will serve ritual cacao by the cup.
Warming and nutrient-dense. poured into colourfully glazed handmade ceramics.
Guests will be invited to customise and adorn their drinks with a paint palate of colourful powders made from dried fruits, flowers and mushrooms.
The evening will be soundtracked by Ben Chernett, who will create a bespoke sonic piece from the sea of Hastings. Expect to be transported somewhere sweet and melodious far far away and a little familiar too.
